They used to do this with Kirby all the time. For some reason, Nintendo thinks a game will sell more copies if the main character looks like he’s ready for action. As you can see, the European box art is clearly superior. Link doesn’t need to look like he’s “an ass kicking sonovabitch.” We already know he is. That wouldn’t change if he was smiling, or sleeping on a pile of teddy bears.
